My Beloved… - a poem on autism

A condition that came with your identity

still my unconditional love for you remains

It is a part of you, yes

but does not defines you

When you run around holding your ears,

unable to express yourself, I hear you

In all the ruckuses, the silence,

the discomfort, the incessant tics

the raging laughter of people

who do not understand your plight

I still see you.

my beloved

my horizon

my ray of sunshine

my pride

I've got you, always.

which is why I write you this poem

and to teach the world

as you have taught me

Autism is not a label

you are not a label

just an incredible being

always doing the most

incredible things.
